you might be surprised to know that Hair loss may be related to stress in some way.

1. Stress can cause a condition called telogen effluvium

This is a type of hair loss that occurs when many hair follicles simultaneously enter the resting phase of the hair growth cycle, Dr. Singh explains. This can lead to significant hair loss over several months.

2. Stress can cause a condition called alopecia areata

This is an autoimmune disease that causes patches of hair loss on the scalp and other parts of the body. It is believed that stress can trigger an autoimmune response, causing the body to attack hair follicles.

3. Stress can exacerbate certain types of hair loss, genetic or hormonal

If you have male pattern baldness (male or female pattern baldness) or polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)-related hair loss, stress will only make the condition worse.

4. Stress may cause hair damage

If you find yourself pulling or rubbing your hair, it could be stress. Such practices can cause hair loss and should be avoided.

However, experts point out that not all hair loss is stress-related. There may be other underlying medical conditions or genetic factors that are causing hair loss.
