BMC Hospitals To Start Monsoon OPD Next Month, Health News, ET HealthWorld


Mumbai: With the rapid increase in March COVID cases Under control, BMChealth management I am now turning my attention to monsoon disease. At a recent meeting at the Civic Headquarters, it was decided to reserve 3,000 beds. “These monsoon OPDs should start by the first week of June in some hospitals,” a senior health official said.

Since the Monsoon Ward became an annual facility at the City Hospital a little over a decade ago, data since then show a sharp increase in patient visits from June to September. BMC has 16 hospitals in the outskirts, and from June the number of cases due to the virus will start to rise.

“Most hospitals start out with 150 to 200 beds, but there’s always a need to increase those beds,” said a doctor at a city hospital in the eastern suburbs. From 2020 to 2021, due to the lockdown, the number started to rise to normal levels from last year, for example, the number of gastroenteritis cases decreased to 2,549 in 2020, but from January 2022 By September, the number had increased to 4,000.
